artists of the first world war Otto Dix and Max Beckmanns haunting images of the horros of war have always made a powerful impression on me. This harsh indictment of man's inhmanity to man somewhat presages the anti war imagery of bands like Crass and Discharge.
Poets of great war in the same vein as the First World War artists, it's long been my feeling that the poets of the Great War, paticularly Owen and Sassoon are anscestors of much of the early UK punk lyrics.
